Today's mood is serene but exhausted. Alas, no pictures for you this week. I promise to get on the ball next Sunday. Want to update you on the heirloom roses blooming. The fragrance of them is to die for.
If you love roses grown on their own roots having heirloom quality in form and fragrance, I highly recommend .www.HeirloomRoses.com based in Oregon. The owner John, passed away this last year but traveled the world treasure hunting the best roses for preservation and breeding. I live in harsh desert climate where growing anything is a challenge. The roses I purchased from John and his wife Louise are hearty and heady in aroma. They survived my cold winter and learning curve. Our soil here is very akaline and roses are acid loving plants. I own 4 different trailing roses, but out of them all the one that tolerates sun, cold, poor soil and is thornless is this great bourbon rose called "Zepherine Drouhin'. Deep lavender petals up to 4 " across and constantly bloom all season. Let me know if you pick one up and what you think of it. I know that you would enjoy it.
Well, we got back from Palm Desert with more costume jewelry in tow, and a boat load of linens, tapestry threads and unfinished business items, which ais the term I use to described project begun and never done. Also in the group and soon to be listed are some great Noveau and Deco purses.
We were back for 1 week and just finished staging and regrouping, cleaning and reorganizing when an unexpected blessing popped up. A home decor store in our area was getting rid of some vintage stash, yep, just taking it to the dump.
Our friend who lives in their neighborhood tipped us off and with the owners ok, we loaded up displays for swap meets, some unboxed Christopher Radko Ornaments, Fontanini, VanGroup, mini Boyds, Dept 56 Christmas Deco along with a few Dickens Village pieces.
Tons of vintage books and tapes along with vinyl albums will soon be offered in another shop to be announced.
All of this and more.
Our son and daughter in law came up this weekend from Long Beach and we had a GREAT time with them as we all stepped over around and slept in the midst of what will take a few weeks to go through and list. We went out to eat Greek/Italian (great hubby and wife team) at Fresco II. OMG, to die for garlic and spice, fresh seafood, lamb, greek antipasti, crusty bread with dip, sparkling wine and yes, I had dessert at home 4 hours later. CANOLLI.......shoulda taken pics, I know. I will get better at this blogging thing. I will, I will, I will. I will also not eat for a week! LOL
Still waiting for my approval and date for spinal fusion, will probably have to 'take a vacation' from the store. Booo. At least for a week or so...
Anywho, here's widget of some new and relisted goodies you might have previously missed.
