Our promo ended at 6pm PDT tonight. We would like to congratulate PinkChristine72 on being the winning best offer bidder on these fantastic boots. Wear them well Christine!
and now for my sunday night musing...........
Wow, I have this recurring thought......I am sitting on an atomic looking sofa.....my eyes are glazed....I am sort of slumped down so that the small of my back is the "crack" of the couch. I can only be about 3 years old. My hair is in braids, or pigtails as we called them back then.
Wearing my holstered six shooter, my western shirt and fringed skirt, I dreamily watch the lives of my perfect cowboy and his family.
Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Trigger, Nutmeg and NellyBelle the jeep. I couldn't believe that I could see into their lives each week and I wondered what they did the rest of the time while I had to be a good girl and play with my toys.
Our TV had rabbit ears! (so now I have lived to see the advent of color and the rise of digital and in 2009 the demise of rabbit ears) maybe, rabbit ears will be the new hot collectible. LOL
Most shows were in black and white. No matter, they made a deep impression on me.
Where oh where is that little costume now? I don't even remember the color though I imagine it had to be red or black or have lots of red in it. I wouldn't wear much that wasn't red. I should go and check out the Roy Rogers Museum again. It's about an hour from my house, last time there were bedclothes and lamps and lunchboxes, toys and the like. My heroes have gone to the grave having ridden off into the sunset of a 'better' life and having performed numerous good deeds for their fellow man.
Dale really was a free woman you know, one of the first in the mid-fifties to not solely be 'in the kitchen throughout the show.
When I had the costume on...in my 3 year old mind, I WAS Dale and Nutmeg (her horse) and NellyBelle (her jeep) were MINE and so was Roy.......at least for 30 minutes or so a week and during reruns..
Anyway just thinking out loud. Wouldn't it be fun if we all had scanners to post pics of ourselves as kids growing up. Catching a forgotten fashion, place or family vacation. I know we all don't have scanners but I might try to take a pic of a pic.....something to think about. Could be a great promo tool if we all do one together.....
Hugs and love to all of my friends here.;)
I had a silver six shooter that shot caps. And of course the matching holster! You don`t hear about cap guns anymore. I still remember the smell when I shot the bad guys.
ReplyDeletei hear loud and clear sister! those little red dots made the best noise and for a kid the best 'forbidden' smell of sulfury satisfaction!
