As I begin to dig a bit deeper the collection that I have inherited remnants and remembrances of a life well lived and enjoyed, I am struck by the craftsmanship and sheer visual artistry of the costume jewelry pieces of the 40s (huge, heavy and dripping with pearls and ice) and 50's (when for the first time in history, societal fashion was film media driven while simultaneously, costume jewelry became affordable to the masses due the end of WWII.)
( a signed BSK brooch of seed pearls)
While I rummage through, examine, research and clean the pieces, they seem to me to be tiny, individual works of art. Makes me want to decorate a mini tree for Christmas with all of the baubles and just gaze upon it all day to my hearts content.
But, alas, such a past time is not mine to have a present.
I do however, derive great joy in sharing some recent acquisitions and additions to 'The Desert Rose.'
